The first thing is that this is not a forum. It is a website.
Why the difference? Because a forum is just a forum. This is a website, one of the components of which, is a forum. It's actually only a forum because it looks and behaves like a forum. In reality the forum is just part of the normal website.

OK, first what you can do with it now:

This is the main page:

You will notice I have marked various facilities on the screenshot.

On the old forum you could click on "recent posts". You can do that too on here Smiling
And you get this:

This page looks a bit different. Notice the facilities I have marked on the screenshot.

This is what you would see if you didn't visit for a few days, where "new" shows where new things are, and marking where you can click to see the new content. If you control-click each one you'll get a new tab for each new entry and then you can just close those tabs when you've done.
So you can chose to click on "new" to get to the new comments on a topic, or you can click on a topic title if it's a new topic.

You can also select how you want a topic with comments displayed. Even someone visiting can do that !

I usually use this:

Now, I have not had much time to develop this website. There are obvious things that could be added:

1. On the main page it would be good if each person could select what they see and in what order. ie rather than just "new topics", the new topics would be grouped into categories. Likewise "new comments" could be ordered or grouped according to preference. On my list.

2. It would be good to see who posted the last comment on a topic. On my list.

3. It would be good if the recent pages list had the forum the topic comes from. eg "photography". On my list.

4. It would be nice if the layout and colours were better. On my list.

5. BB Code buttons !

6. Improve the editor

7. A quote button :?

Please select 30

Please select 30 for the number of comments per page otherwise links to multi-page threads won't work right.
